School and Work
Ever since I was a junior in High School, I have been working and studying at the same time. It has been great to be independent from my parents. However, having to work has taken a toll on my academic performance. While I was in High school I did not have to work, but I chose to do it just to have extra cash in my pockets and help my parents. Once I reached college it was an entire different story. I was able to get scholarships to pay for my tuition but there are many other expenses that still need to be paid. Many times I found my self working 20 to 25 hours per week; with travel time this could add up to 30 hours per week. Because of my jobs I don’t have as much time as I would like to study. My engineering classes are time demanding. Many times I have found myself sleeping only about 4 hours which just makes things worst. If I had the resources I would stop working and just concentrate on my studies. My grade point average has steadily declining as the classes get tougher and I spend less time studying because of my job.
